Dog Friendly Apple Butter Festivals

Fall is a wonderful time of year to enjoy the outdoors with your dog. The temperatures are at a comfortable level and there are so many fun events, festivals and activities to partake.

Each year, we enjoy attending the Apple Butter Festival in Berkeley Springs, WV.  The festival is dog friendly and fun for the entire family, two and four legged.

This was the first year for my Chihuahua, Tootsie, to attend.  She thoroughly enjoyed walking around with us and meeting new people.

This year marked the 43rd Annual Berkeley Springs Apple Butter Festival, the very first one was in 1974.  The festival offers a parade on Saturday morning, there are contests and games for all, craft and food vendors, as well as music.  On Saturday, they make apple butter in large copper kettles, right in the square for everyone to see.

 Unfortunately, we missed out on the Saturday activities this year, and were only able to make it there on Sunday.

Needless to say, we still had a great time!  Here are some photos of our day at the Apple Butter Festival.

Tootsie was quite impressed with the hot crab dip and fries we got for lunch.  Since it was a special outing, she was allowed to have a little taste of the crab.  It was very delicious, can't wait for next year's festival to get some more!

Of course, after the hot crab dip, we had to get some old fashioned soda pop to wash it down.  Tootsie had water, of course.

Tootsie's favorite booth at the festival was the Smooch A Pooch Booth. A local rescue was raising funds for their shelter pets. However, Tootsie was dissapointed that the doggie was on a break when we went by.  Tootsie does love to give out smoochies, might just have to sign her up as a volunteer next year ❤
